VIDEO: Janet Jackson | Behind The Scenes – Blackglama ‘What Becomes A Legend Most?’ Campaign (Year Two)

JANET shows that she still has it like its 90s in this behind-the-scenes footage from her latest Blackglama campaign; following her around in what seems like a day of changing in-and-out of fabulous minks and leathers, the video also manages to capture Janet’s fabulous abs, those which have been safely tucked away for a few years now.

Creative Director for Blackglama Charles DeCaro states for this years shoot “It’s a very different vibe, this go around…There’s many narratives in Janet. This was that edgier, kind of cooler, modern, and rock-n-roll.”

Showing off a body that most twenty somethings would be jealous of, Janet now 45, has the world waiting to see what she comes up with next and with these new Blackglama shots  I’m sure it’s just a taster of whats to come.

Without further a due, check out the behind the scene’s clip below, photography by Rocco Laspata.

Janet Jackson | First Legend as the Face of Blackglama for Two Consecutive Years

I was so pleased this morning when I received news that Janet Jackson would continue on as the face of Blackglama for a second consecutive year; Shot by Rocco Laspata she is the only legend from a long list of previous faces which include Sophia Loren, Naomi Campbell, Audrey Hepburn, Gisele Brundchen, Elizabeth Taylor and Diana Ross to actually be the face of the campaign two years in a row.

The ad above is the first of many from the second run of the ’What Becomes A Legend Most?’ series which is premiered in W Magazine’s September issue 2011 on stands now, take a look at the press-release and more images below:

Beyonce | Complex Magazine – August/September 2011 Issue + Video

Looking sexy and sensual Beyoncé graces the August/September issue of Complex magazine to promote her new album “4″, in-stores now.

Definitely not one of her best covers of recent, it’s still one of the betters that have been released this this year, I do reckon however the cover would have looked 100 times better in colour and with a revised look, I have to say I’ve seen her do this style 1000 times over. The route she was taking with the more high-fashion looks is definitley one that she should keep on for now, also seeming as Complex is a partly fashion magazine I do feel they could have done a bit better on this rather than relying on the typography of the lyrics to make the cover what it actually is.

Redeeming themselves a bit in the behind-the-scenes video take a look at some of the other looks during the shoot below:

Britney Spears | VMA’s 2011 – Tribute Commercial

The line up for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards 2011 seems to be shaping up nicely; with Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj already confirmed to perform, this new commercial now points that other acts and in fact maybe Britney Spears herself may also be added to the line up.

Listed as A Tribute to Britney Spears, the commercial features iconic nods to the artists that Britney has drawn the most inspiration from herself, Janet Jackson, Madonna, and Michael Jackson; so with that let’s see what MTV has in-store for us this year, should be a mighty treat if I don’t say so myself.

André DeVeaux meets… Gil Duldulao (Celebrity Choreographer, Creative-Director & Dancer)

So after Janet’s concert in London last week I managed to meet with her current lead-choreographer, creative director, and dancer Gil Duldulao. Tired I’m sure after the high-energy dancing Janet, him and the other the dancers had just put down on stage, yet he still managed to stop and take his time out for a few moments with me. A quick chat it was but definitely all I needed, I thanked him for all his input to such a great show and then just in general for all the awesome routines he’s put together for Janet in her videos, performances and concerts thus far.

If you’re not familiar with Gil’s work outside Janet he most recently choreographed Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass”, the same choreography which she now use’s in her performances such as the Billboard Award’s in late may and on Britney Spears: Femme Fatale Tour, he’s also working with Aubrey O’Day on her TV series “All About Aubrey”, plus he also choreographed the video for Danity Kane’s “Bad Girl” while the group were still together, however it doesnt stop there. Gil worked on the film hit film For Colored Girls and Carmen The Hip-Hopera in which Beyonce starred.

Also apart from dancing in many of Janet’s videos, he’s also danced in other artists such as Christina Aguilera’s ”Dirrty” ”Genie in a Bottle”,  Britney Spears’ “I Was Born To Make You Happy”,  Jennifer Lopez ‘s ”Waiting For Tonight” “Feelin’ So Good”,  Tina Turner’s “When The Heartache Is Over” and more, to top it off he’s danced on tour with most of them too, so if you didn’t know now you do.

Check out some of what I call his best work visually below:

Cassie Ventura For BLANK Magazine – July Issue #63 2011 (Full Editorial + Video)

Cassie has done it again; looking even more stunning as time goes on, these images appear in the July #63 issue of BLANK Magazine.

Shot by Steven Gomillion & Dennis Leupold and styled by someone who I need to give a huge hug, this is one of those times where the styling, photography, hair/make-up and location work perfectly in unison together; I’m completely in LOVE with the 90s-chic glam girl-next-door look, topped by velvety-tones and crisp lighting-that makes you gasp for water, this shoot’s the one that’s got me really amped for Cassie’s musical return.

Now I love Rihanna, but she better watch her spot because if every pans out the way I’m sure Miss Ventura’s team would want it to, she could be a major chart-threat again in no time at all.

Check out the rest of the glam shots along with the behind-the-scenes video below, also keep an ear out for Cassie’s new single “Make You A Believer (feat. Jadakiss)” playing in the background of the clip too:

JANET | Rocks House Down at Royal Albert Hall, London – Number Ones: Up Close & Personal Tour

JANET, still Miss Jackson if you’re nasty! blew the crowd away at London’s Royal Albert Hall just over a week ago; touring in the UK for the first time in 13 years JANET performed on three-dates, two of which sold out so rapidly a third was added to meet demands. In support of her latest greatest hits cd Number Ones, this tour dubbed “Number Ones: Up Close and Personal” this arena was a perfectly fitting venue for the show, JANET who stated this tour was about being closer to the fans, using the Royal Albert Hall allowed everyone to see her from wherever they sat.

Opening the set with The Pleasure Principle to-which I sung every word then following up with Control, What Have You For Me Lately, Feedback and 1993′s You Want This off the simply stated janet. album, the songs which followed only reminded the crowd why she’s an icon and still a pop legend. Going through her back-catalogue of hits ranging from the Control album all the way up to 2008′s Discipline, the set featured a notable ballad-segment showcasing JANET’s sweet, sensual and soulful vocals,  plus several medleys, one of which flowed through If, Scream and Rhythm Nation moments before she ended the show with heartfelt but joyful rendition of Together Again, now a tribute to her late brother Michael. Armed with her troop of dancers she effortlessly replicated nearly all the choreography from many of the iconic videos she made during her prime; using her sassy, suave and sexy moves, along with fierce interactions with the audience  she had us all on our feet singing, dancing, and imitating the moves throughout the show, I’ll admit to doing all the Miss You Much routine along with If,  I knew the moves so I wasn’t gonna let that opportunity pass.

Attending both the July 2nd and July 3rd shows, I’ve heard no less from the June 30th attendee’s which included some celebrities in the audience such as JLS, Joe Jonas, Alesha Dixon and more just to name a few. It seems JANET’s really on a good streak right now, one that no doubt’s on a route to increase as time goes on; she revealed during an interview on ITV’s Paul O’Grady show last week (which I also attended) that she’d be touring well into next year with places like Australia, South America and Africa still on her list left to visit, and that’s before she even return’s to the US for a second set of stops next month.

The only point I note out about the show which could see room for improvement is the length, at 90 Min’s it did feel quite short even though we went through many of the hits. It didn’t affect the vibe of the show, however the atmosphere is so good when it ends it really is a depressing trip back to reality, so it would be nice to see her on stage a bit longer. Perhaps cutting the acting-montage, (this featured clips from Good Times, Different Strokes, Poetic Justice and Why Did I Get Married Too?) now even though it had the audience cheering and clapping their hearts out for joy, I’d much prefer her adding 3 or 4 more songs maybe even another medley, either way it would be a really nice bonus.

Overall I can safely say I had an amazing time at the show and would completely recommend it for anyone, my mum’s a casual fan from the 80s so I brought her along to the last night as a birthday present, she left saying “I LOVE YOU JANET!!”, so even if you’re not a die-hard it’s still definitely an experience, one that’s barely matched by any other artist out at this moment plus it completely gives you that fan-to-artist connection; JANET pointed me out twice during the Encore on both nights I went to see her, the final night I even made her laugh during the dance-break of Rhythm Nation.

Just as she started to do the signature breakdown moves, she spotted me in crowd (4th row, Floor) after screaming at her and jumping up and down with my official Rhythm Nation jacket, she then broke into small giggle; so besides her pointing directly at me later in the show while saying “…Thank you so much”  that point will always be something I’ll remember when I see or hear the song.  Non-rehearsed and not the typical type of wave-n-heart sign’s most fans receive, these points were completely natural and unexpected so in those moment’s my connections with her were really made.

JANET wanted to be in an intimate setting with her fans and this was truly that! RATING: 4.5/5 Stars

Check out some more images from both of the nights shows below:
